If you are in need of a new phlebotomy cart, it might be tempting to go with the cheapest model and not purchase any accessories to go with it. If you do this, you are robbing yourself of a lot of the efficiency that the cart has to offer. Here are some key accessories that you need to order alongside your order of the phlebotomy cart.
1. Blood Tube Organizer
You want to make sure that you purchase a blood tube organizer for two reasons. The first reason is that you want to make sure that you are able to easily grab blood tubes without having to scramble around in a box or risk leaving them falling off your cart. The second reason is that you need to be certain that you are able to keep your filled tubes separate from your empty tubes in order to make grabbing the tubes that you need to do your job an automatic process.
2. Multi-Compartment Storage
You also want to make sure that you have a color-coded, multi-compartment storage system in order to make sure that you can have all of your swabs, bandages, and alcohol wipes neatly organized and kept separate from one another. Doing this will make it easy for you to do your job without having to root around through a bag. It will allow you to make the blood-drawing process as quick and as smooth as possible, which is helpful because you might have patients that are anxious about getting their blood drawn and any delay will cause them to become less relaxed.

Finally, you want to be sure that you have a side glove compartment on your phlebotomy cart. This is especially important because it will allow you to keep your gloves handy at all times without taking up room on top of the cart, where the premium storage space is. You want to make sure that you have enough room in this glove compartment to hold boxes of different sizes of gloves in case someone else should be using the cart aside from you.
